The underspend is driven by surgical and non-surgical program schedule changes, as well as cost savings. These funds have been allocated to programs in the July-September 2024 timeframe.

Tommy, age 4, from Madagascar

While a single cleft lip surgery can still cost as little as $240 (like Tommy in Madagascar), children often face more complex surgeries. In this past fiscal year, 4,774 surgeries were performed on 4,126 unique surgical patients at an average cost per surgery of just over $1,000.
