Canadians Change the World
We are so blessed to work with incredible individuals who give their time, knowledge and expertise to provide care to patients with cleft conditions, and also to build capacity and strengthen health systems around the world.
From July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023:
- 48 volunteers attended surgical programs, with 17 of those individuals participating in two or more programs.
- They travelled to 14 countries, including Egypt, Morocco, Dominican Republic, Malawi, Guatemala, Mexico, Madagascar, Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia, Jordan, Ecuador, Philippines and Honduras.
- They attended 31 surgical programs, including the Champions Programs in Colombia, Bolivia, Guatemala and Honduras.
We are proud to celebrate the Canadian volunteers who have committed themselves to developing and growing the Champions Programs. Thank you to the 12 volunteers who are training future medical professionals, such as PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurses, OR Nurses, Cleft Surgeons, Clinical Coordinators, Child Life Specialists & Psychosocial Care Providers, Speech Language Pathologists, and Medical Records.
